She also writes nonfiction books on crime and crime prevention topics. Her articles have appeared in magazines such as "Ladies Home Journal", "Harpers Bazaar", "Reader's Digest", and "The Wall Street Journal". Her first novel, "Maggie's Angel", was published by Viking Press in 1992 under the pen name Tess Monaghan.
This earned her a nomination for the Anthony Award for Best First Novel by the Crime Writers Association. She currently lives in Los Angeles with her husband, two children, and two cats.
